Sarbanes to meet with area residents in Westminster
Senator Paul Sarbanes will meet Carroll and Frederick County residents next week to hear questions and discuss federal matters. The sessions are not media events. Sarbanes attends due to usefulness. He plans a Carroll County session Saturday November 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Westminster. He will be joined by staffer R Douglas Mathias.

Youth to be charged with manslaughter in fatal Gaithersburg crash
A 16 year old from Gaithersburg will be charged with four counts of manslaughter after a head on collision on Gaithersburg Laytonsville Road on November 15 killed four members of the Alan Light Hall family. The youth also faces 12 other traffic violations and police withheld the driver’s identity. The Lighthalls were traveling north when the late model Mercedes struck them head on. Five others survived but with injuries. The case underscores ongoing investigations and county public safety concerns.

Attorney challenges trial practices in Frederick County court

Fire engine overturns near Damascus injures five
Damascus Volunteer Fire Dept engine responding to a call on Woodview Drive struck and overturned about 10 a.m. Five firefighters were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Mount Airy VFD was already at a laundry room fire at 28525 Woodview Drive when the Damascus unit struck a pole on Ridge Road about 1.5 miles north of Damascus.
