ImMexican rebels scored a complete victory over federal forces in a two day battle near Juarez. General Villa ordered a major advance as federals retreated across open terrain. Reports from Juarez said Salazar was likely killed and many federal troops captured or executed as traitors.
Rebels under General Aguilar seized territory near Tuxpan and captured an oil field at Tatpan. Federals retreated after heavy fighting two miles south of Juarez, with about 7000 rebels and 2000 Federal troops engaged. The battle began Monday as heavy artillery opened fire and front lines held near the Juárez border.
A party of American fishermen from San Diego seized the fishing launch Utowana belonging to W. Potter after entering Ensenada harbor. Mexican guards took the vessel, with the owner later charged with poaching in Mexican waters.
Federal grand jury charges accuse Harver Miller and associates of rebating to obtain lower freight and unloading rates at the Keystone Elevator and Warehouse and related firms in Philadelphia. Indictments stem from alleged practices around Sept. 3 to fall observations and involve a rail carrier and grain dealers. Also noted are a French aviator killed in a Buc crash and a 6300 pound cheese cut into 20000 pieces for a Chicago land show.
