Sewage flood prompts town to upgrade plant near creek
On Aug. 12 the town board approved nearly fifty-five thousand dollars in renovations for the Cone Branch station. A new 500-foot eight inch pressure main is in service while two motors and a generator are due in two weeks, with full operation by December. Officials fear delays could hinder hookups and question the effectiveness of current filtration as wildlife dies and residents haul water. A state health letter urged improvements, including daily inspections, straw bale filtration, chlorine disinfection, a multifocation alarm, and enhanced monitoring. The town said daily checks would begin and an emergency power alarm installed.
