United Fund Still Short Of Goal
The 24 hour United Appeal radio marathon on WFMD raised 3400 for 11 agencies, lifting the year total to about 134000 but still $12000 shy of the 146000 goal. Executive secretary Harry A. Harper noted mailed gifts would be accepted at 22 South Market Street while no further campaigns would occur this year. The Kennedy death affected turnout, though some donations were given in honor of Kennedy.
