U S Food Control Revived to Combat Sugar Shortage
Washington November 22 President Wilson revived wartime federal control of the food supply to meet an acute sugar shortage. Attorney General Palmer will wield authority formerly held by Hoover, with a proposed price of twelve cents a pound wholesale for sugar except the Louisiana crop. A retail price around fourteen cents may follow, subject to adjustments.
