Commissioner Zimmerman's Purchase of the Hargett Farm
Charles Zimmerman of Frederick County has bought the Hargett farm near Winchester, enlarging his landholdings to 478 acres. The sale, motivated by health, follows Cather’s earlier plan to convert the farm to orchards. Zimmerman plans general farming and will likely rent the existing residence. The 211 acre parcel stretches along the Baltimore pike and is praised for its fertility and location.
