Timely Tips Winterize Your Gas Engines
Winterizing advice for gasoline engines unused in winter. Clean dust and grease, start to warm oil, drain and replace filter, refill crankcase with oil. While warm, grease and replace lubricant in gear boxes and related components to prevent rust and clogged fuel lines.
Prepare Your Engine for Spring Start Up
Remove spark plugs and place two tablespoons light oil into each cylinder. Turn engine by hand to coat cylinder walls and valves. Re set plug gaps and replace. Completely service the air cleaner. Drain gas from tank sediment bowl line and carburetor. Leave cocks open. Clean strainer and bowl. Remove battery charge and store indoors where above freezing. Cover exhaust pipe and air stacks to prevent moisture from entering rust. If you can check all eight items you can count on engine performing in top notch shape next Spring.
