Hess Favors State Control of Race Tracks
Maryland House of Delegates leader W Dale Hess urged state takeover if any wrongdoing is found in race track franchises. He asked Gov Tawes to form a study group to probe Maryland racing issues after it emerged state Racing Commission Chairman Bruce Livie is a director of a firm that has earned over 500000 for state track construction. The panel set next year’s racing dates, including a Pimlico 26-day spring meeting, altering a long established seasonal window.
