The United Nations General Assembly voted 51 to 49 to seat Peking and expel Nationalist China, with 25 abstentions. The result, a historic shift after 20 years of China debates, may push Beijing into the world body next year, despite U.S. opposition to expulsion of Nationalist China.

Rogers Questioned as Cambodia Aid Plan Faces Senate

Secretary of State William P. Rogers will be questioned by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee over the administration's call for expanded military and economic aid to Cambodia seven months after he warned against it. The debate could push into the week of December 7, with Laird and Scott pressing for action to influence Vietnam troop withdrawals. The package totals include 155 million for Cambodia and 500 million for Israel, among other items, with Israel aid already authorized.

Tractor injures Knoxville farmer in rollover accident

A Knoxville man suffered a fractured shoulder when a farm tractor rolled over him at 6 33 p m Friday after he overfilled the engine and tried to restart it. The tractor lurched in third gear, struck a fence, and the engine died. Police also report a series of incidents including a drunken driving arrest, multiple vehicle violations, larceny charges, and break-ins at local schools and businesses.

High Winds Forecast Dim Cloudy Weekend Outlook

Weathermen predict an overcast weekend with lingering cloudiness through Wednesday. Winds expected to diminish today with highs in the mid to upper 50s and tonight's lows in the mid 30s.
