Wise, Va November 11 A Cumberland mountain jury convicted Edith Maxwell 21 of murdering her father Trig Maxwell. The judge fixed her sentence at 25 years in the State Penitentiary. The defense plans to appeal the verdict.

Indictments Return in Varela Murder Case by Frederick Grand Jury
After a two day extra session, the Frederick County Grand Jury reconvened and reported 32 witnesses examined, 15 investigations, 11 presentments and indictments, with four cases dismissed. Two first degree murder indictments named Alfred Brown and Blanche Smith in the Varela murder case. state officials praised State's Attorney Sherman P. Bowers for handling the proceedings.
