Anderson Testifies Company Was Slovenly At Camp Gordon

Second Lt. Charles C. Anderson testified in his court martial that his Co A was slovenly when he took over at Camp Gordon and that he ordered strenuous exercises as punishment. He described pushups and other penalties for trainees amid allegations of more severe acts including a tree restraint and dirt burial, which he denied carrying out.

Lewistown Grange reelects Worthy Master at November meeting

Ross Stull was reelected Worthy Master of Lewistown Grange at a November 11 gathering. Officers elected included William Warren overseer Hilda Clem lady assistant steward Mary Kathryn Schooler secretary George Firer steward Mrs Hann pomona Mrs Willam Warren ceres Marie Powell flora Raymond Clem chaplain J Jewell Beeson lecturer Charles Putman gatekeeper H Fulton Nicodemus treasurer John D Leatherman assistant steward and executive committee members We A it Bell caine Jacob R Ramsburg and Donald Kendall. Pianist Myrtle Bell. Lecturers Stull appointed Mrs William Warren Hilda Clem Mary Kathryn Schooler and Glenna Leatherman to plan a Christmas program for December 23. A committee of Warren Kendall Bell Beeson and Glenna Leatherman was formed to start bazaar plans and Myrtle Bell was chosen Mora at the Pomona election. The fifth degree will be conferred at Walkersville Fire Hall November 29 and the sixth degree at Carvel Hall Annapolis December 8. Pomona annual one act play and talent contest set for November 26 at 7:30 p.m. at End Elementary School Frederick. Grange to observe Thanksgiving next Thursday at 8 p.m. public invited. Linganore Grange hosted Friendship Night with Jefferson Grangers as guests. New Market members Franklin Barker and John Haskeer earned the fourth degree. Mrs Henry Keller led the program with singing, an instrumental quartet Patty Lakin Rudell A Halt Theodore Zimmerman and Michael Boyer, Sara Jane Biser recitation, and Doris a vocal solo.
