Bombers End Long Flight From United States to Argentina
Six B52 jet bombers of the 42nd Bombardment Wing completed a 10 600 mile nonstops round trip from Homestead Air Force Base Florida to Buenos Aires and back. They refueled in flight using KC135 tankers and landed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base after a detour due to weather. Brig Gen William K Martin led the mission noting perfect performance and the jet KC135 refueling first usage with a B52.
