Fire destroyed six frame garages and one automobile in a row east of Chapel alley near East Seventh Street at about 1 30 this morning. Three adjoining garages were saved. The total loss around 500 dollars. Objects of the blaze remain under investigation by Chief Bartgis.

Deputy Sheriff Shot Recovers at Frederick Hospital
Deputy Sheriff William E. Foreman, 53, is recovering at Frederick City Hospital from two gunshot wounds to the head and face nine days after a shooting near Thurmont. He was near completion of his sheriff’s service when attacked by James McGraw, who fatally wounded himself after shooting Foreman’s estranged wife obtained an order for furniture removal. Foreman’s wife visits daily. one son serves in the Navy in the Hawaiian Islands.
