Army staff urges larger force over continental program
Washington deluge of reports cites a plan to raise regular army to 250000 with 300000 reserves and a total mobilizable force near 1506000. The Garison staff argues for a year of training and a costly, flexible force, backing business training camps and national defense boards.

Car Mobbed at Plymouth Sparks Disorder after Trolley Strike
In Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania on November 16 a mob attacked the first Plymouth bound streetcar since the strike began a month earlier. Driver Evan Pugh blocked the car with his wagon and police arrested him for disorderly conduct. Police dispersed the crowd as the crew moved the car to safety. An extra detail was deployed to prevent further clashes. The report notes 2,750,000 acres of Great Britain are devoted to woods and forests.

Churchill Turns on His Critics in Parliament
London November 16 Former Cabinet Member Churchill in the House of Commons defended his conduct as Admiralty head and resignation reasons. He blamed delays at Antwerp on himself and Lord Kitchener and the French government while asserting the Dardanelles campaign warranted extreme measures. He said official documents would vindicate him regarding Craddock’s fleet loss and defended Admiralty decisions as sound under advisers.
