Maryland counts weigh sales tax to fund schools
In Annapolis a Maryland group of county commissioners debated 40 proposals to finance rising school costs. They consider a one percent sales tax increase for school construction or a state funded rise in teachers salaries. The plan includes inviting education officials to discuss funding and presenting a Dec 5 agenda. Also reported are a jail term for Anthony Phelps after a drunken driving and reckless driving conviction in Frederick and a Caracas bridge collapse injuring 34 workers.
