Montgomery to Build $50,000 Animal Crematory
The Montgomery County Council is set to authorize a $50,000 animal crematory amid a disposal crisis. DPW Director Joseph C. Kordella told the Rockville meeting that the six month build period would allow burial on county land with no health hazards, despite concerns from the Humane Society about potential risks. Animal bodies daily travel to a rendering plant in Alexandria, while the new facility is proposed to resolve the overflow from the demolished Suburban Sanitary Commission incinerator at Lyttonsville.
