Millionaire Warren Peabody kills self before marriage
Warren M. Peabody, 21, heir to a $2,000,000 estate, was found dead beside a poison vial in Chicago. A coroner’s jury ruled death by his own hand while temporarily insane. He was to marry Miss Louise Anderson, of Memphis, on November 16. A letter to his fiancée urged bravery and claimed devotion in the land of the great forest. A note to his mother requested cremation and no tombstone. His fiancée and mother testified to his despondency and engagement. Memphis society is shocked by the tragedy. Haiti ratifies U. S. treaty granting de facto protectorate status. treaty now goes to U.S. Senate.
