Veterans Honored In Local Service
Reverend Francis E. Reinberger told about 90 Memorial Park attendees that 1600 Americans held in North Vietnamese prisons resemble being trapped in an elevator between floors. He urged recognizing humaneness beyond politics, noting families and communities are cut off and forgotten. The observance was organized by Frederick's American Legion.

About 2,500 rural vacancies were filled by qualified career employees nationwide, and only 85 cases required Civil Service Commission involvement. Safeway dual pricing praised for future savings impact
Ricketts says dual pricing helps shoppers saving by buying in bulk, while recognition that quality discrimination remains. Safeway stores Seventh St and Prospect Plaza now offer unit pricing, with Shop and Save in Monocacy Center using single unit pricing but not per unit cost. Consumer champions back the idea. Massachusetts enacted mandatory unit pricing, New York City halted by injunction, Maryland has no law.
