Second Murder Case Here Set For Thursday
The second murder case in the current term of Circuit Court opens Thursday at 10 a.m. with Robert Leroy Keeney on trial for the death of his wife Rachel Emmaline Keeney. State's Attorney Edwin F. Nikirk will present the case. Keeney allegedly stabbed his wife on February 14 near Singanore road. Keeney reportedly attempted suicide, was hospitalized, and later jailed after psychiatric exams. Mrs Keeney, 48, and Keeney, 32, faced prior incidents including an assault arrest and a car wreck near the scene. Two of Mrs Keeney's sons were in the house. an older daughter was chased away. Earlier in September, Philip Benjamin Thompson was found guilty of manslaughter in a separate case.
