Condemned Medical Student Durrant Is Sentenced to Hang
William Henry Theodore Durrant, the San Francisco medical student condemned for the 1895 murders of Blanche Lamont and Minnie Williams, was brought from San Quentin and sentenced by Judge Bakers to be hanged tomorrow morning. He remained calm and self possessed as the date, Friday Nov 12, was announced, while crowds filled the hall and women hid their faces.

Peru Must Pay Up Indemnity Settlement Sought

Catholic Priest Murdered in Philadelphia Streets
The body of Rev. Henry J. McPake, 20, a priest of the Church of the Annunciation, was found in an alley behind St. Paul’s Academy on Christian Street after being beaten and robbed. The right skull was fractured, nose broken, and he had been dead some time. His watch and purse were missing, supporting murder theory. no clew to the killer. He left his church Tuesday night to visit his father and did not reach him. The discovery was made by a transtress at the academy and identified by Sisters of Charity. He was a total abstainer and of handsome presence. It is believed the assailant dragged the body to the spot to simulate a fall.
