Philadelphia Nov 1928 A deadly shooting near the Darby Creek bridge left Thomas A. Lee dead at Chester hospital. John Lee, 20, son of the deceased, surrendered to police fourteen hours later and was jailed in Delaware County. Conflicting family stories emerged about a quarrel at a masquerade party in the father’s boathouse and a subsequent unidentified assailant. Robert Murphy, a nephew, disputed the father’s account, insisting a stranger fired the fatal shot and disappeared.
Fannie McGlynn, seventy seven, traveled from Philadelphia to Palo Alto, walking ninety four miles in a week to collect rent on a house she once owned. Officials learned the property had been sold by tax commissioners in 1884. Current owner Thomas Collins offered use of the home for McGlynn's life, which she accepted. In Pottsville a baby’s body was found in a Reading railway passenger car from Philadelphia, wrapped in a pasteboard box. In Lancaster a newborn baby was discovered by Robert Weltig along the road in bushes. the baby’s mother will be cared for, and Weltig plans to adopt.
