Cuyahoga survivor says flood came from topside in sinking

Coast Guard Cutter Cuyahoga sank after colliding with Santa Cruz II on Oct 20. Survivor Chief Warrant Officer Timothy Stone testified that water flooded the ship from deck-level doors on the left side after the impact, not through a gash on the right. Rutledge, another crewman, backed his account describing being hurled by debris as water rushed in from above. The pair described the vessel tilting, with water filling cabins within seconds and an air pocket forming near a hatch before escape.
