Frederick County School Enrollment Dips Below Projections
The November Board of Education heard that the 1974 September 30 pupil population in Frederick County was the smallest increase since 1949, with total county growth 163 students short of the 633 projected. Linganore High led secondary growth, while Urbana and several rural areas posted declines. Summer Programs were organized into three categories running June 17 to August 28, with one continuing into October.

Assault suspect takes own life after warrant issued
Frederick man Dwight L. Whiten 21 died Friday after shooting himself while police prepared to serve a warrant for the assault of Linda S. Homburg on South Market Street. Homburg, beaten and hospitalized, was in satisfactory condition. Police said the warrant had not yet been officially served when Whiten shot himself.
