Damascus High School to host second annual community fair
The Damascus Chapters of FFA and FHA under William W Miles and Miss Adel Seed will sponsor a community fair at Damascus High School gym on Thursday November 13 beginning at 1 a m. Premiums totaling 300 will be offered across poultry fruits vegetables grains corn crafts and related household products. Negro teachers to be paid as whites under equal protection ruling
New Orleans November 7 Federal Judge Wayne G Borah ruled that Negro school teachers must receive the same salaries as white teachers of equal qualifications. He said Negroes are denied equal protection under a dual system with higher salaries for white teachers. Borah's decision came in a suit challenging pay scales in public education.
