Democrat Ronald Sundergill won the Frederick County Board of Commissioners contest with 17,466 votes, leading the field of 10 by more than 1,000. Incumbent Sterling Bollinger finished far back amid a contentious campaign linked to the Schroders farm condemnation and growth issues. Sundergill, 36, of Jefferson, expressed surprise at the rapid rise to president of the board.
