Maryland to Expand DNR Controlled Hunts for White Tails

Maryland wildlife officials plan fall and winter controlled hunts targeting thousands of white tailed deer on state parks and public lands including Fort Detrick. Absentee ballots fail to change Frederick County results

Absentee ballots did not alter the countywide outcome as Frederick County elections officials counted 1.60 absentee ballots, lifting turnout to 38 percent. Montgomery, Prince George's, and Baltimore City posted higher rates, while Frederick remained weak. In the county commissioners race, Bruce Heeder led fifth-place finisher Jan Gardner but trailed the winner by a wide margin. votes listed include David Gray 30,334 and Terre Roy Rhoderick 27,977.

Unemployment steady as job growth slows in October
