Youth honored at Braddock Heights Optimist Club event
Braddock Heights Optimist Club named Kyler Brengle Boy of the Year and Ann Bowers Girl of the Year during Youth Appreciation Week. George Barthel presented Brengle with a trophy while guest speaker Richard Shipley awarded Bowers. The youths are children of local residents in Braddock Heights. The clubs will award $500 in scholarships during National Youth Appreciation Week.

William Frederick, 27, paralyzed from the neck down, plans a career as an auctioneer. He believes his voice and persistence will carry him. Frederick was paralyzed in 1965 when a horse fell into a ditch while he helped a friend herd cattle.
