High Knob Fire Contained Northwest of Frederick
A forest fire on the eastern side of Hugh Knob seven miles northwest of Frederick was checked by 15 men from the Fishing Creek CCC camp. Fire started during brush burning on the dual highway right of way and spread briefly before crews halted it near Gambrill Park. The October drought had reduced fires, but fallen leaves keep brush dry and prone to spread.
