Belafonte to Make First TV Appearance in Two Years on Steve Allen
Harry Belafonte will appear on NBCs Steve Allen Show for a 20 minute segment marking his first American TV appearance in over two years. He recently toured Europe after turning down many offers, insisting on substantial time to present his art without being rushed. Belafonte praised BBCs four yearly engagements and criticized US TV for pressuring shorter segments.

Local residents win farm bureau talk and talent contests
Frederick County contestants led Baltimore Farm Bureau events with Effie Fulmer, a Frederck soprano, winning the talent contest for I Could Have Danced All Night. James Fox of Frederi earned the talk prize for The Effects of Agriculture Research on the Future of Farmage. Mary Apna Lake finished second in talk. Contestants will enter national finals in December. An Air Force enlisted man Amman De Frain, 20, was critically injured when his car left a highway near Maywood, Illinois, and struck a tree. His companion Ted Bradshaw, 19, was hospitalized at Hines Veterans. Both men were stationed at O'Hare Field.
