Southern Millionaire Quarantined After Louisiana Visit
A. & Manot, a wealthy Louisianan planter from Jennings, left Thornbrook Mt St Marys on October 11th and returned last Sunday. He owns four sugar plantations and recently bought a $12000 cane mill. His refinery cost $276,000 and pipelines run underground four miles. He notes warm weather, no yellow fever, and recommends locating there as no sugar mills exist within eight miles. The crops are thick due to drought.
