Protesters attack hotel as South Korea campaigns turn violent
About 250 protesters surrounded the Kukje Hotel in Pusan where Kim Dae-jung spoke, hurling stones and bottles and demanding withdrawal. Earlier a sand bottle narrowly missed him in a 200,000-strong Seoul rally as riot police clashed with 500 radical protesters. At least 21 arrests, several injuries, and extensive window damage were reported as rival Kim Dae-jung and Kim Young-sam campaigns intensified.
