Police arrest 21 in Frederick narcotics raid
Twenty one persons were arrested and marijuana and heroin seized in a Frederick raid by city and state police. The operation began at 7 am at five locations, with warrants for Soul Brothers Lounge and four residences. Nine charged at Duckett residence. others charged with marijuana, heroin, paraphernalia, or conspiracy. The undercover probe spanned five months, led by Major Charles V. Thousands Flock Brunswick Veterans Parade for Day of Remembrance
Thousands packed Brunswick on Sunday to witness the citys Veterans Day observance. Mayor Jess Orndorff welcomed guests including Jack Dyke and Richard Cook as Thomas W. Simmons, Department Commander of the American Legion Maryland, gave the main address. Simmons cited Prisoner of War Army Maj. James N. Rowes Vietnam tale and urged a sustained national effort, calling for letters to Hanoi. Cathy Myers was crowned Veterans Day Queen, with Brenda Carey Green as last years queen and prize money of 250 dollars awarded.

Hijacker with brown beret lands in Havana Cuba
A United Airlines Boeing 727 bound for Portland from San Diego diverted to Tijuana for fuel then flew to Havana after a gunman wearing a brown beret declared a Chicano operation.
