Carnegie Hero Fund awards brave deeds in Pennsylvania miners deaths
Pittsburgh Nov 2 a list of heroism awards published by the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission honors residents including Fred J Maneval Ridgway W Sterrett Parkinson and John G Wolfe. Awards total 415000 assist widows and children of 73 miners killed in a mine explosion in Pennsylvania and 13 widows supported for a separate West Virginia mine disaster. Andrew Carnegie also established hero commissions in Italy Norway and Denmark with endowments. The Titanic memorial and medal were dedicated and will be sent to the national museum in Washington.
