Churches back Interfaith Housing expansion with gifts
The Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore contributes 50000 dollars to Interfaith Housing of Western Maryland to help operating costs as it enters its sixth year. The Lutheran Church grants a 100000 dollar loan to support the Development Loan I Fund, with a 25000 dollar France Merrick grant aiding a second 22 unit self help housing project in Taneytown. Interfaith Housing now oversees 15 projects totaling 340 housing units, reflecting ongoing faith community support despite religious differences. Bishop Frank Murphy urged further church and synagogue backing to combat substandard and unaffordable housing amid regional needs.
