Day Nearer To Obtain Vital Organs
A Chicago report outlines dramatic advances in organ transplantation. Surgeons say living organs could be moved between people, with skin and kidneys already transplanted in animals, and possible paths toward human use. Rejection remains a major hurdle, but techniques and embryo-derived fluids show promise for desensitizing tissue.

Frederick County Roads Board Adds 24 Miles to 1956 Program
The Frederick County Roads Board last night recommended 24 miles of highway improvements for the 1956 program after a day of touring and three hours of discussion. County Commissioners must finalize the list, hearing delegations today, with about 35 miles carried over from earlier plans. Some projects were dropped, including widening and surfacing on Ball Street near the airport and routes at Araby Airview and Warner roads, while others near Frederick Junction and Water Street were deferred. The final adopted program will determine which, if any, of the held projects are restored or added, and some construction slated for 1955 may be completed before year end. Funds were reduced this year, and certain projects cannot be built next year due to right-of-way issues or funding, though the board aims to avoid dropping any projects blocked by ROW problems unless unsolvable.
