The County Association of Milk Distributors says the increase is unnecessary, noting the milk from the Hagerstown area already serves metropolitan areas. Distributors say shipments to the city require meeting metropolitan prices to ensure county supply, otherwise milk from the Hagerstown area may be diverted away.
