Maryland Voters Brace for Showdown in 1948 Campaign
Maryland politicians predict partisan gains in the upcoming presidential election. Democratic State leaders claim a 2 seat national sweep while Republicans project at least three or four Congress wins. Both sides tout strong local races as incumbents seek reelection and district contests loom across the state. Troops were withdrawn from London Tennessee after peaceful turnout concerns amid death-related unrest.

Two men from New York and New England were found in a stolen car in Westminster Saturday night and the vehicle recovered before the Baltimore owner learned of the theft. Larochelle was suspected in a $700 Massachusetts armed robbery. State Trooper James Simmons coordinated the arrest after spotting the pair near Westminster theater.
