Montgomery executive files suit over school funding council action
Montgomery County Executive Charles Gilchrist says he will file a lawsuit in Sixth Judicial Circuit Court challenging the County Council and Board of Education over a 2.5 million appropriation for unrequested school projects. He accuses the council of bypassing procedures and seeks court review to protect county budget and public comment rights. The action targets arts center funding at a closing high school and a cable TV instruction program, with the school board joining as a party.
