Union Bridgeman pleaded guilty in Circuit Court to three counts of receiving stolen goods tied to a 1973 border spree. Stewart Parker of Lackey Road near Union Bridge admitted receiving more than 6000 dollars of stolen items for about 700 dollars. Judge Barrick deferred sentencing pending a report and warned up to ten years per count.
Sagner Inc and other east Frederick firms oppose the Carroll Creek interceptor project and argue the city erred by hiring Dewberry Nealon and Davis for the flood plain study. President Nixon announced a pact with the Common Market to reduce tariffs on a broad set of U S exports including tobacco oranges kraft paper film tractors engines plywood and measuring instruments. Officials value current exports at about 1 billion dollars annually and say the move aims to offset tariff changes after the market expansion.
Gov. Marvin Mandel signed about 300 bills from the 1974 Maryland General Assembly session.
