The Taneytown Chamber of Commerce met May 23 in the Firemen’s building with 29 members present. James C. Myers opened the meeting, later relieved by President M. C. Fuss. The group discussed road work to Hobson’s Grove, Littestown’s summer concerts funded by local business men, and appeals to the State Roads Commission and Carroll County officials for road shoulderings and gas tax allowances.

Nellie Bond of Washington DC was a guest. Bessie Smith entered Maryland University Hospital for an operation. Anita Richardson and Mary Hull, New Windsor High freshmen, were treated for illness at Women’s Hospital Baltimore and operated on. Evelyn Mays brought friends to visit. Daniel Engler and wife visited granddaughter Macy Hall at Women’s Hospital. Arthur Lambert purchased...
