Hughes signs final Maryland bills in rainy ceremony
Governor Hughes signed about 300 measures from the General Assembly into law, finalizing a broad package that includes Chesapeake Bay cleanup funding and pollution controls. He vetoed 19 bills, including limits on local gun ordinances, and approved Western Maryland business signings along interstates. The Bay cleanup package, praised by officials, funds over 15 million in initial year outlays and marks a major legislative legacy.
