Construction workers at Lake Linganore blocked a creek basin and burned about 3200 gallons of spilled diesel to stop oil from reaching a municipal water supply. The action, started at 7 30 a m and completed by 9 00 a m, was approved by Air Quality Control and health officials, with no detected pollution downstream.

Boonsboro Man Drowns In Lake
A 41 year old Boonsboro man drowned when his canoe capsized on a lake near Myersville on Saturday afternoon. Richard Arthur Stotelmyer of Boonsboro was pronoun ced dead of drowning at the scene. Another Boonsboro man, Terry Lee Kline, survived wearing a life preserver. The accident occurred on a farm lake west of Myersville, witnesses said.

532 Killed On Highways During Memorial Day Weekend
The Associated Press reports 532 deaths in traffic accidents nationwide over the Memorial Day weekend. Witness Absence Delays Robbery Trial for Frederick Men
The trial of three Frederick men charged with robbery by force was continued after the state's chief witness did not appear. Charles Geisler was being sought for alleged beating and robbery on February 15 on East All Saints Street.
