Judy Richmond of Westport Connecticut traveled about 350 miles in five and a half days to enter the Great Eastern Bicycle Rally in Frederick County Memorial weekend. She left Saturday morning and rode back roads mostly on scenic routes encountering two days of storms and occasional dog hazards. She rested at the Frederick YMCA before the rally and plans to return home with her husband and two children awaiting.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick will add a five year old kindergarten class this fall to its nursery school program. The Nursery Center opened in February for four year olds and will continue next year. Registration for both groups is open. scholarships are available upon request. The center is nondenominational and welcomes all community children.
Frederick and Emmitsburg attorney Edward D. Storm has filed as a Democrat to represent the Second Senatorial District in Maryland's State Senate. A former Frederick County senator, he has served in judicial executive and constitutional branches and seeks the seat once held during Governor Lane's era.
Former Maryland governor and Baltimore mayor Theodore R. McKeldin will deliver the commencement address at the Maryland School for the Deaf on Sunday June 7 at 2 p.m. Thirty graduates will receive diplomas and certificates in a ceremony at the school gymnasium open to the public.
A 59 year old Union Bridge man died Thursday morning when a hay baler being repaired on a tractor on a slight grade drifted and crushed him. John Richard Hauptman was pronounced dead on arrival at Frederick Memorial Hospital after the 11 30 a.m. accident. He is survived by a brother Wallate Hauptman of Fitchburg Massachusetts. Funeral arrangements are set at Bittle Funeral Home Myersville with services Monday at 10 30 a.m. Interment at St Johns Lutheran Cemetery Church Hill.
