The State Roads Commission invites bids by June 18 at noon for the Fort Detrick by-pass to the west. The project, a 24 foot wide connection from Seventh Street pike to Fourth Street pike, includes grading drainage and paving on Maryland 73 and ties into the Fourth Street interchange. The federal government will cover most costs with some state funds.

Dr G Frederick Ordeman a native of this city died early today at his home in Alton Illinois after a long illness He was 64 and born to D Thomas and Edith Best Ordeman He graduated from Boys High in 1909 Washington and Lee University earned a master from Wisconsin and a PhD in chemistry from Johns Hopkins He taught at Washington and Lee and served as a WWI lieutenant He later joined Standard Oil of Indiana at Whiting and retired in August 1953 as manager of the Wood River Mill refinery He is survived by his wife Charlotte Sian Ordeman a daughter Charlotte Ordeman Kloote and four grandchildren
