10 Day Jail Term for Reckless Driving After Route 40 Wreck
A tractor-trailer driver, Carlos E. B. Reed of Gainesboro Virginia, received a 10 day jail term and $100 plus costs for reckless driving after a September Route 40 crash at Plane No 4 near Frederick. Reed’s jackknifing trailer caused a collision with William A. Lee of Strasburg, seriously injuring Lee and causing about $22,500 in damage. Magistrate Wilbur F. Sheffield said the sentence should deter reckless large-truck operation.

State Dept Names Ships In Korean War Troop Transport
The State Department said it has evidence that two ships linked to British Hong Kong firms carried Chinese Communist troops along the China coast during the Korean War. The Perico, registered to Wailem and Co. Ltd., and the Miramar, owned by Wheelock Marden and Co., were named in a report released at a news conference by Senator Mundt. The document, prepared for the Senate Investigations Subcommittee, addresses contentions that prior testimony was vague. A separate note reports Judge Holtzeff ordering an examination of Henry Grunewald, a Washington wire-puller, to assess potential imprisonment risks.
