Glendening signs education laws to expand scholarships
In Annapolis Governor Parris Glendening signs education bills from the 1999 session. The HOPE scholarship program would provide 3000 tuition grants for graduates with a B average and college GPA to all majors by 2003. About 700 science and technology students receive first-year grants. expansions will target future teachers and reading in early grades. The package includes 10 million for after school programs and new safety and university administration reforms.
