Templeton the Cardinals Find Hailed as Ruth Type Prospect
Archie Templeton of Winston-Salem and the Piedmont League emerges as a Ruth-like prospect for the St Louis Cardinals. Scouts praise his throwing speed and power, compare his build and swing to Babe Ruth, and note his natural talent at first base or outfield, with major bids and Rickey’s endorsement shaping a potential big-league career. Templeton, raised in a Children Home, starred in school and minor circuits, drawing attention from Branch Rickey and other top teams.
