The Maryland Synod of the United Lutheran Church in America opened its 105th conference at Westminster with 150 clergy and lay delegates. Rev. Funeral Sappington Sr. to be held Thursday
The funeral for Francis Brown Sappington who died suddenly at his home 223 East Second will be Thursday afternoon at All Saints church at three o'clock. Columbia Lodge of Masons will conduct the service at the grave and Jacques de Molay Commandery Knights Templar will escort. Interment at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Thomas P. Rice, funeral director. He was 71 and died after a brief angina attack.

A laborer turned ashburnham heir lived a curious life. He was a soldier named Young in Ashburnham earlier and worked as a laborer in Fredericton Canada. He married a Fredericton telephone operator and later inherited the title of Earl of Ashburnham with estates. Atlanta May 27 A series of cyclones and tornadoes swept through Mississippi Alabama and Louisiana last night and early today killing at least 35 persons injuring about 70 and causing thousands of dollars in farm and building damage. Six Die In Windsor Hotel Fire In Newark
Six men are confirmed dead after a blaze swept the Mills Hotel in Newark’s automobile district. Three more perished as flames trapped dozens of occupants escaping through narrow exits. A police officer said a drum of cleaning fluid ignited the fire and men struggled on the main stairway as flames raced downward. The four story frame hotel, valued at 75000 dollars, was packed with about 100 occupants.
