Six Injured In Collision On Route 240
Six people were injured and property damage exceeded 1000 after a collision on Route 240 near Frederick Junction Friday evening around 8:30. Driver Mrs Hellen Ruth Combs 37 of Frederick sustained a fractured collarbone and two children suffered multiple injuries. Austin L Wood 17 and passenger Wilson Umbaugh 19 were treated for lacerations and eye injuries. Betty Lou Combs 4 was hospitalized for observation. Trooper Rouzee cited improper turn for Combs and speeding for Wood.

Young Seaman Charged With Capable Launch Crews
Newport May 26 A Navy board of inquiry heard that a 19 year old apprentice seaman was in charge of a small launch that capsized in a storm in Newport harbor. At least two dead, 13 missing and 10 unaccounted for after dramatic rescues as sailors from nearby boats aided those thrown from the launch aboard destroyers. Lt J W H Coleman testified he would not have sent out the launch if he had known the coxswain had switched from Chester Lawes to James D Egler.

In Washington on May 26 a five year old girl named Barbara Ann Quade was found bleeding and unconscious a few feet from her apartment building. She had been missing seven hours.
