Legislative Council Considers Limiting Special Interest Bills
Baltimore May 25 The Legislative Council moved to curb special interest bills offered for recommendation to the General Assembly. Senate President Byrnes designated a policy panel to handle the matter as the council opened its first session since the last assembly. Eight bills vetoed and 46 defeated spurred calls to limit controversial measures unless all members endorse them. Regular meetings were slated for the third Wednesday each month.
